ABOUT ME
If you look above at the center of an Irish road, you'll spot a young woman beside a large suitcase and a Pint of Guinness - that's what our friend Deb looked like when she met Paudie O’Connor back in 1972!
About Deb Trotter: Adventurer. Creative Soul. Storyteller.
Hello! Let me introduce you to Deb Trotter, a woman whose life embodies the spirit of adventure and creativity.
Born in the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Deb now calls the majestic Rocky Mountain West home, where she lives with her husband John and their two lovably goofy dogs, Cooper and Roscoe. With the heart of a true explorer, Deb's journey has taken her across the country and across the pond—from Ireland to Virginia, Tennessee, Connecticut, various North Carolina towns and Cody, Wyoming. She'd pack her bags for a new adventure in a heartbeat!
Back in 1972, Deb graduated from Maryville College in Tennessee with a degree in Theatre and a minor in English. She also studied English at Appalachian State University and musical theatre at Southern Illinois University.. Her creative talents shone on stage during Summer Stock at Southern Illinois University, and she's built an impressive career as both an actress and director in professional and regional theatre. If you've ever visited Goldrush Junction (now known as Dollywood), Tweetsie Railroad, or The Land of Oz, you might have enjoyed shows that Deb wrote, directed, or performed in.
Deb's versatile career path has included roles as a Public Relations director, teacher, and Arts Council Director in North Carolina. While living in Connecticut, she volunteered weekly for Connecticut Radio Service for the Blind and made history as the first professional female voice-over announcer for ESPN in Bristol.
Deb has also enjoyed a career as western-themed mixed media artist under the brand “Cowboy’s Sweetheart.” Her licensed artwork has appeared on greeting cards as well as shoes and purses.
These days, Deb devotes herself to writing full-time. She's an avid reader who adores memoir and fiction, and she'll happily confess to being a devoted Stephen King fan. Her collector's heart is drawn to vintage photos and theatre posters, books, miniature houses, and beautiful mercury glass.
When she's not writing, you might find Deb researching Ireland and her first love, Irish basketball star, Paudie O'Connor, exploring historical Old West locations like Tombstone, watching majestic bison roam, or enjoying peaceful picnics amid the natural splendor of Yellowstone National Park.
Do you have your own tale of true love, transformation, or adventure to share? Deb would love to hear from you on her Contact Page. Don’t be shy - you may even find yourself featured here on her blog!
And don’t forget Deb’s motto...
“When Adventure Calls, Say Yes!”
